Understanding Your legal Education Entitlements
In South Africa, homeschooling holds official recognition as a valid alternative to traditional education, a status that has been in place since 1996. In accordance with Section 51 of the South African Schools Act, parents have the option to enroll their child in a home education program by liaising with the Head of Department within their Provincial Education Department.
Consequently, for Grades R-12, parents register their child with their Provincial Education Department as homeschooling and designate themselves as the primary educators. NeuroMe serves as the curriculum provider to support homeschooling efforts. This support may encompass lessons, assessments, portfolio management (evidence of attendance and progress tracking, etc.), and tutoring sessions, but it is still recognised by the Department of Basic Education as the parent serving as the primary teacher. During the Further Education and Training (FET) phase (grades 10-12), registration with a formal examination board is mandatory.
In order to safeguard our rights as parents to provide our children with the quality home education they deserve, we strongly recommend that parents become members of the Pestalozzi Trust.
Caring for Every Aspect of Your Child’s Learning and Well-Being
At NeuroMe, we take pride in our experienced curriculum, dedicated tutors, and compassionate NeuroChamps (neurodiversity support therapists). Our team is specially trained to provide unwavering support, addressing every cognitive, emotional, and physical obstacle to learning while nurturing your child’s holistic well-being. We are here to empower your child’s unique journey, every step of the way.
It’s all about our ionHubs
We understand that each neurodivergent learner has unique needs, and that’s why we offer ionHubs – our Individualised Online NeuroChamp Check-ins. These sessions are personalised encounters with your child’s dedicated NeuroChamp, where the focus is on providing tailored support. We emphasise accountability, motivation, and organisation to help activate the reward system of their brain. By acknowledging their accomplishments and offering the praise they deserve, we create an environment where neurodivergent children can thrive and reach their full potential. Our commitment to individualised learning goes beyond academics; it’s about nurturing their well-being and helping them on their path to success as a proud neurodivergent.

Our NSC offering
At NeuroMe, we take pride in offering a unique learning model tailored to meet the diverse needs of our neurodiverse learners. Our approach is rooted in distance education, enabling students to embark on a personalised learning journey at their own pace. We strictly follow the nationally recognised CAPS-aligned curriculum, making it more accessible to our NeuroMe students.

We care about our parents!
At NeuroMe, we deeply appreciate the demanding nature of homeschooling, particularly when it involves neurodivergent children and their parents. Our commitment extends to providing exceptional support for our neurodivergent students, and we place equal importance on the well-being of their parents. To underscore our holistic approach, we offer dedicated sessions for parents to foster connections, offer guidance, and receive feedback, thus ensuring a comprehensive and successful well-being strategy for our learners.
Connect
At NeuroMe Home Education, we are not just an educational platform; we are a community passionately dedicated to championing neurodiversity. Our program is not only affiliated with but also led by a team of dedicated neurodiversity specialists and educators from Neurodiversity Support, who truly understand the unique strengths and perspectives of neurodivergent individuals. We believe in creating a special place in society where neurodivergents are not just recognised but celebrated as equally extraordinary and capable members, each with their invaluable viewpoints to offer. Our motto, ‘Perfectly Wired,’ encapsulates our core belief that neurodivergent minds are not ‘deficient’ or ‘disordered’ but beautifully and perfectly wired. We invite like-minded neurodivergent parents to join us in this collective journey of empowerment, acceptance, and celebration.
