At NeuroMe, we believe that creating a fair, kind, and empowering environment during Knowledge Challenges is essential for our NeuroBuddies to thrive.
Proctoring, reading, scribing, or prompting for neurodivergent learners is a specialised skill – not just an administrative task. You play a vital role in removing barriers, mitigating anxiety, and helping learners unlock their true potential. Traditional exam environments can be overwhelming and unforgiving. At NeuroMe, we do things differently.
What do these roles involve?
- Proctor: You ensure that the learner writes their Knowledge Challenge under the correct conditions and in a fair, supportive environment.
- Reader: You read the paper aloud verbatim for the learner (except for Mathematics papers).
- Scribe: You write down the learner’s answers exactly as they dictate (except for Mathematics papers).
- Prompter: You gently remind the learner to keep track of time during their Knowledge Challenge, without adding pressure.
As a certified NeuroMe supporter, you will:
- Learn how to communicate instructions fairly and clearly without adding unnecessary pressure.
- Understand how to avoid anxiety-triggering language and behaviours.
- Support learners honestly and ethically while remaining empathetic and kind.
- Help create a testing environment that allows our NeuroBuddies to truly show what they know.
Certification is compulsory for anyone wishing to proctor, read, scribe, or prompt during NeuroMe Knowledge Challenges.
The certification course is R280, and once completed, you will be added to our database where parents may contact you to assist their NeuroBuddy.
