Setting up the Invigilator App

Welcome, NeuroBuddy!
This guide will walk you through the steps to get the Invigilator Web and Agent ready for your assessments. We know trying something new can feel overwhelming, but we’re with you every step of the way. Breathe easy, this guide is here to make things simple, flexible, and supportive.

✅ What You’ll Need:

  • A desktop or laptop computer (entry-level is fine)
  • A stable internet connection (for a short moment at the start only)
  • Google Chrome browser
  • Your ID number (which will act as your student number) and the email you use for NeuroMe

🌐 Step 1: Go to the Invigilator Web

Open your browser and go to:
web.invigilator.app

Important if you’re using a Mac (Apple):
Safari will not work for the installation step, but no stress, you’ll be guided to download Google Chrome.

👤 Step 2: Create or Log In to Your Profile

If this is your first time:

  1. Click: “Don’t have an account? Sign up”

2. Under University, scroll down and choose NeuroMe.

3. Fill in:

  • Student number (Your ID number)
  • First and last name
  • Email used with your NeuroMe.co.za email
  • Mobile number
  • Your own password (create something you’ll remember)
  • Click Register

📧 Step 3: Verify Your Email

Check your NeuroMe email inbox for a message with your verification PIN.

Type it into the verification field and click Continue.

Read and accept the terms and conditions.

🧪 Step 4: Complete Calibration (Only If Prompted)

If you are a new user or using a new device, you may be asked to go through a calibration process. This simply checks that everything (like your camera and mic) works well.

  1. Take your selfie

Make sure your browser allows the Invigilator to use your:

  • Camera
  • Microphone
  • Notifications

2. Do a video check

💻 Step 6: Install the Invigilator Agent

This part is very important — the Agent needs to run during your assessments.

  1. On the Invigilator Web screen, click Install Agent

2. Choose the right download:

Windows Download (for most users on PC)

Mac Download

  • If your Mac is from before 2021, choose the pre-2020 version
  • If it’s newer, choose the post-2021 version

3. The download is small (115MB) and takes about a minute

Once it’s downloaded, open the file (probably in your Downloads folder) to start the install

You’ll see a green screen and a little owl icon in your taskbar at the bottom and that means it’s working

🧪 Step 6: Complete Calibration Process (Only If Prompted)

  1. Do your Screen capture check

2. Do the microphone check

3. Test your sound

Yay! You’re almost done! You should see your successful completion here

📷Step 7: Take your master selfie (it has to be a photo of you)

📝 Step 8: Let’s Do a Demo Test

Here’s how:

  1. On your dashboard

2. Enter in the Demo Test code: 8e107c5e

3. Start the assessment (don’t worry there is no actual assessment)

Remember not to leave the computer during a session

4. Take a confirmation selfie by clicking I’m ready. Now you can go ahead and do your practise round in your Google Classroom tab while you leave this tab open until you have submitted your complete Knowledge Challenge.

5. When you’re ready, end the assessment by clicking Finish Assessment

It will ask you to confirm that you’re finished with your exam, then if you’re ready click Yes, I’m finished

6. Confirm you are you by taking a submission selfie

Well done, you did it!
